I was the co-founder and co-manager of Strettle St Market Garden, a small-scale market garden across two locations in Thornbury and Fairfield.
Strettle St Market Garden delivered weekly vegetable boxes to 10 households in our community over two successful seasons. Strettle St Market Garden was motivated by a desire to provide members of our community with fresh, local, affordable produce.
It was a small contribution in the fight to re-localise Melbourne’s food system and promote small-scale sustainable farming. Strettle St Market Garden followed organic farming practices and was inspired by permaculture principles and CSA models.
Since the wrapping up of Strettle St Market Garden I have been working at farms in and around Melbourne, most recently Mossy Willow Farm and CERES Honey Lane.
