FareShare Kitchen Garden, Abbotsford, was created in 2016 on a strip of wasteland between Victoria Park railway station and Victoria Park oval to grow vegetables for FareShare – Australia’s largest charity kitchen. The kitchen garden on Lulie St, Abbotsford is growing a range of veggies on 70 beds created by volunteers. FareShare Kitchen Garden will be opening its gates to the public as part of the Urban Agriculture Series for the 2017 Sustainable Living Festival.
Visitors can tour the garden which is currently producing eggplant, zucchini, carrots, silverbeet, Jerusalem artichoke and a trial crop of sweet potato varieties.
The Backyard Honey beekeeper will also be in the garden to remind us all about the important role healthy local bees play in supporting our productive edible garden.
